Gratitude – A Key TFYT on all levels.

Gratitude is a path you can walk in order to appreciate what you have. If you appreciate what you have, you can use it in a way that can get you what you want. When you get what you want, you can realize even more of what you actually have. The more your realize how much you have at your disposal, the more opportunities you begin to see. The more opportunities you begin to see, the more potential grows. Potential is the energy you use to get to where you want to go. Gratitude raises you up to a level that allows you to see things from the perspective of the bigger picture rather than from the up-front, close and personally attached perspective. Retrospection is a key TFYT for gratitude to be realized.

Gratitude is a quality of being thankful for what you have experienced by integrating the experience into the bigger picture of your entire life rather than seeing it only from a focused view of the specific situation in the immediate moment. It requires you to look back on the experience and identify what was to your benefit and what was not in order to make a more refined decision now. Unless you liked what happened in the past and want to repeat it, then you may be grateful for being able to do it again but it will be a repeat of what happened the previous time, not an improvement on it.

Gratitude is a readiness to show appreciation for what you have received and to return kindness because of it. If the experience was difficult, painful or unhappy, you can be grateful that it is over, but if you use retrospection to identify what YOUR ROLE in the experience was, you will become aware of your thoughts and beliefs about the experience and enter into a new mindset about what you would like the end result to be this time (this is your desire now). You can then express your refined self control in the present moment through Action Ability (your ability to act differently now), because of having experienced it before and know what will happen if you make the same choices. You gain power by making choices now that reflect you correcting the mistakes you made the first time. It is personal responsibility and accountability.

This is Conscious Response Ability.

Gratitude replaces anger and vise versa – only one of these emotions can be expressed at a time – you can bounce back and forth between them but you will only feel one or the other in a given moment – they are on the same spectrum of emotions therefore they are mutually exclusive. Challenge yourself and see if you can appreciate being grateful more than you appreciate being angry.

CAVEAT: Gratitude enforces the necessary boundaries established through retrospection by identifying what you could have done better in the past, and implementing it in the present moment. There is great power in growth!
