Self Control, defined on Google, is the ability to control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires or the expression of them in one’s behavior, especially in difficult situations.
This is a dual edged sword and a significant accomplishment if achieved.
As an ability, self control can be practiced. If practiced consistently and diligently over one’s lifetime, that practice results in refining ones ability to Master Self Control – you will get more and more skilled at being able to control yourself appropriately.
Self-control is the essence which allows you to stop yourself from doing things you want to do but that might not be in your best interest. It is an ability to subdue our impulses, emotions, and behaviors in order to achieve an ultimate desires while giving up “life’s little pleasure in the moment”.

Self control is a mindset and, as a dual edged sword does, can cut you either way, therefore, it is prudent to maintain balance between the extremes of to much and to little control. To much control is just as dangerous as not enough control. Using your feelings and emotions to fuel positive life experiences instead of negative life experiences is the TFYT that will enhance you getting your Ultimate Desire.
Awareness of your thoughts and beliefs when handling a dual edged sword – whether physically or figuratively – requires a great deal of determination and faith in the unknown. Sometimes you will feel like you are in the dark fighting something you can’t see and other times the awareness will engulf you and carry you right into the truth. The truth is what sets you free if you are courageous enough to trust it.
Awareness, or mindfulness, of what your thoughts and beliefs are is often a challenge for many people. Fear will often times stand in front of truth and it is your challenge to find your truth. That truth is different for each person according to where they are in life. Awareness of how you are behaving now (living in the present) and or have behaved in the past (through retrospection) is where Your Power comes from. It is a way to re-evaluate what you did, refine it and do it differently next time.
